Winyl is a hybrid wine and vinyl record store in the centre of Manningtree on South Street. We stock vegan, organic and sustainable wine from across the world – you won’t find any of these on supermarket shelves as they only deal with independent suppliers. The wines all have memorable labels, a shared affinity with the album artwork of the other main interest… vinyl!

Although Neapolitan in spirit, Lucca Enoteca shares it’s name with the charming Tuscan commune in central Italy. A favourite holiday destination for owners Sherri Singleton and David McKay! Opening our doors in 2007, the concept of Lucca Enoteca was based on many memorable meals eaten in Southern Italy. Wanting to recreate an authentic wood-fire destination, Sherri then spent time in the kitchen with the ‘Maestro of Pizza’, Enzo Coccia at his famous La Notizia pizzeria in Naples. Often sited as serving the best pizza in Italy, Enzo passed on many tips and recipes that are used at Lucca today.

Estuary Wine & Tapas Bar
Estuary Wine Bar is a contemporary and modern venue located in the heart of Manningtree. The inspiration behind Estuary came from our love of Italian Enoteca paired with the interiors of smoky Soho wine bars. We wanted to make the bar a point of difference from the quintessential English pubs within the local area by focusing on fine wines, cold tapas and gins.
The Mistley Kitchen
The Mistley Kitchen is a well renowned cookery school located in a fine Georgian Town house in the ancient port village of Mistley. We offer one-day recreational hands-on cookery workshops for up to 6 participants (at this time).
Established in 2001 by American-born chef Sherri Singleton, The Mistley Kitchen Culinary Workshops have developed into a destination for keen cooks of all abilities from around the country. We offer a range of relaxed but informative courses for food lovers of all abilities.
The Red Lion
The oldest pub in town. Described in the Observer Food Monthly as “A great traditional free-house, with a focus on East Anglian ales.” We have 2 rooms available for hire for business functions or even your staff parties.
We are a cosy old pub with little space for food, so we thought we’d leave that to you! Customers are welcome to bring their Fish and Chips, Indian, Chinese, Pizza (from our neighbouring pizzeria, The Pizza Place) or Thai with them to the pub and we provide cutlery, plates and napkins free of charge. Just order a glass of your favourite ale or wine while you chose from the selection of menus – many of the local takeaways will deliver direct to the pub too! Fantastically different and more fun than a restaurant meal without the high prices.
The Wholefood Store
Established in 1998, we stock the most extensive range of whole foods in Essex and Suffolk.
We also offer fresh, organic, seasonal fruit and vegetables, not forgetting a wide range of natural supplements and body care. Local sourdough is delivered Wednesdays and Fridays and we have a daily Dal made by our cook Lakshmi, plus other fresh temptations from the kitchen.
North House Gallery
North House Gallery was established in 1999 by Penelope Hughes-Stanton in the former studio of her father, the painter and wood-engraver Blair Hughes-Stanton. Exhibitions extend through the ground floor of the simple Georgian house overlooking the estuary of the River Stour at Manningtree in Essex, and into the letterpress workshop which houses several generations of printing presses, type cabinets and other, now historic, equipment.
There are frequent and varied exhibitions of paintings, drawings, sculpture, original prints and books by modern and contemporary artists of East Anglian, national and international fame. The gallery is open on Saturdays but please feel free to ring for an appointment at any other time.

The Hunnaball Family Funeral Group
Geo Paskell is the oldest branch of The Hunnaball Family Funeral Group and has a special place in our hearts, as do the people of Manningtree, Wix and the surrounding areas. Our team, led by Saul Hunnaball, is always prepared to welcome the bereaved at their most distressing time, and guide them through the intricacies of arranging a funeral.
We help with all the practicalities as we are well used to working alongside celebrants, medical professionals and legal advisors. As bereavement can, sadly, occur at any time, our teams are always on the alert to help. We have a team of experienced funeral directors, as well as our first responders who are on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

My NaviStitch work encompasses my love of our coast, charts and stitch.
I was inspired by an image on Pintrest of a family who had stitched their holiday road route as a red line onto a road atlas; this got my creative mind working. I have always loved the lines and colours on Nautical charts and although my first piece was just a line following the coast this quickly evolved into nautical images and boats.
